An elegant re-imagining of an historic site in Glebe, Sydney.
We created a theatrical setting for a modern bar and dining room that recalls the elegance of the mid-century brasseries of New York and Paris. The visual identity needed to play into the history of the space, but feel warm and light. Wendy Beckett (co-founder) has strong ties to the theatre community, so exploration of visual motifs in this space was essential.
We needed to strike a balance between the ongoing interior design of the space and the identity. Colours and materials were constantly in flux, and so we found ourselves iterating very quickly to find harmony between all elements of the space.
The silhouetted archway logo accentuates the grand bricked beams running throughout the interiors of the restaurant, while the subtle curtain draw acts as a portal, inviting guests into a room of old Hollywood-era extravagance. Gold foiling details across menus and business cards are matched to the brassy tones of the interior surfaces, tying together an identity steeped in the history and pedigree of the space and its current guardians.
